Jenks Athletes Sign Letters of Intent
Several Jenks athletes signed letters of intent taking their talents to the college ranks next fall. Basketball star TJ Washington, Mr. Football Cooper Nunley and soccer standout Caleb Hudgins were part of the class that included an equestrian signee in Bailey Times and track/cross country runner Chase Parsons.
Boys Basketball – TJ Washington – IUPUI.
Boys XC/Track – Chase Parsons – Missouri Southern.
Equestrian – Bailey Tims – South Carolina.
Football – Mason Minnix – Arkansas Tech, Cooper Nunley – Drake, Austin Quillen – Vanderbilt, Dillon Stoner – Oklahoma State, Tyler Thomas – Harding, Sam Wilson – Harding.
Boys Soccer – Caleb Hudgins – Ok Baptist.
Jenks Girls Soccer Name Captains
The Jenks girls varsity soccer team named their captains for the 2016 season. Three players were selected to lead the team. They are, senior defenseman Lauren Parker, senior midfielder Natalie Wilkinson and junior defenseman Bryn McQuaid.
Coach Jo Johnson enters her first season has head coach for Jenks after spending two years as an assistant coach at the University of Texas-El Paso where she played from 2007-09. Coach Kristi Foreman and coach Mike Parker join the staff as Foreman will also coach the JV and Parker is set to coach the freshman. Jenks Track Sweeps at Holland Hall
The boys and girls track teams recently won team honors at the Phil Sweeney Invitational at Holland Hall. The Jenks girls won the 4X200 relay, while the boys won the 4X200 and the B team placed third. Cody Jones placed first in the 800 meters with a time of 2:01.14 and Brittany Willis placed second in the 100 meters just behind Cassidy McIntire of Chelsea.
Jenks girls placed three in the top five of the 400 meters as Ally Ryan won the event with Andi Zangari taking third and Shanne Taylor placing fifth.
Oklahoma State signee Dillon Stoner won the 400 meters with a time of 49.08, while teammate Kyle Potts placed fifth.
In the girls 300 meter hurdles Jenks went 1-2 as Candace Adams just crossed the finish line ahead of teammate Hannah Wilson. For the boys, Deon’ta Smith placed second in the closest race of the day, just a toe behind Isaiah Levingston of Casady.
Others having outstanding performances include Matthew Young, Joe Bingham, Elliet Kulkin and Jozie Mayfield.
