With the success that the Stillwater Pioneer’s baseball team has been enjoying this year, the Pioneers soccer team and star Bryson Reed have been somewhat overshadowed.

So far the Pioneers are 13-1 on the season, with their only loss being a 2-1 overtime defeat at Bixby. The Pioneers also claimed the Stillwater Cup earlier this season and are 5-1 in district play.

Leading the team this year has been the Pioneers’ record breaking star Bryson Reed.

Reed has already broken the single season goals record and the single season assists record this year. Currently Reed sits at 15 assists and 18 goals scored, with one regular season game left to play plus the postseason. Reed also holds the records for most goals in a career with 27 and most assists in a career with 19.

When asked about the records Reed said it never really entered his mind until he knew how close he was.

“I had never thought about breaking records this year until I was about five goals away,” Reed said. “Once I found out, then I knew that would be a great way to end my senior year, by breaking a record.”

Now that he holds the records the meaning isn’t lost on him, but like a true teammate everything circles back to team success.

“I think that being able to break the goals record means a lot but not only to me but the team. Scoring so many goals really makes us a threat to any and every team,” Reed said.

After high school Reed plans to continue his career at NOC-Tonkawa and then hopefully at the Division I level. Before all that happens though Reed will finish his career with a home game tonight against Bartlesville and then hopefully a deep run in the postseason.
